Intrepid will be running a series of MTB Skills & Ride sessions over the summer. Each Friday we will be offering a 3 x hour ride on trails in and around Aberfoyle for Intermediate Level Riders Age 14+ . 

  • Session 1: Optimum Body Position for Speed and Control (including pump track style pumping)
  • Session 2: Drop Offs and Roots
  • Session 3: Cornering
  • Session 4: Wheelies and Manuals
We will meet outside Intrepid at 09:30

 

  • each session will focus on a particular skill & technique and in the remainder of the session we will ride on the trails around Aberfoyle to test our new skills.
  • sessions are designed for intermediate to advanced riders to learn new skills and hone your skills. 
  • you should be confident with the basics of getting on and off your bike, descending and climbing confidently on rough off road tracks, braking effectively.
  • equipment - A certified cycling helmet and gloves are compulsory. Weatherproof clothing is also a necessity. We also strongly recommend using knee pads and any other protection that you feel would give you more confidence. Flat pedals are also highly recommended. Please ensure that the bike you turn up with is in full working order and is relevant for the session. You will need a mountain bike with suspension (either hard tail or full suspension) .
  • you can hire suitable mountain bikes from Aberfoyle Bike Hire (https://aberfoylebikehire.co.uk)
  • please make sure you have a spare inner tube. 
  • you should bring water with you while riding whether in a hydration pack or in a bottle fitted securely in a bottle cage on the bike. 
  • a snack to keep your sugar levels up is also advised.
  • bad weather - If for any reason the weather or trail conditions are deemed dangerous by the Intrepid mountain bike coach and we need to postpone your session, you will be offered another suitable date or a refund, should this happen, we will contact you as soon as possible using the contact details you have provided.
